The netizens scattered information about the alleged statement made by the queen of talk, Oprah Winfrey about the victory of Miss Angola over our candidate, Shamcey Supsup.
Few hours after the pageant, this quote has spread on Facebook , Twitter and even some news blog sites. The statement says:
“I have reservations with the results. If the only basis is the Q and A portion, after having been trimmed down to 5, Ms. Philippines deserved to win. What made her different from the rest is that she had no seconds to rethink of her answer as she had no interpreter to break the ice. The rest had their interpreters and having breaks on seconds to think about their answers. Hands down, Ms. Philippines answered straight to the point.”
This message scattered like a wildfire over the internet and it was even said that Oprah stated this via the NBC News. However, today, it has been confirmed that this was not a statement coming from the queen of talk.
In a query made by Joseph Teodoro, the moderator of the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) confirms Oprah did not make any comment regarding the recently held Miss Universe Pageant.
OWN moderator: There is no truth to that statement. Ms. Winfrey has not made any comments of this nature. Thank you for asking.
Meanwhile, comments following this post were flooded by disappointed fans of Supsup, whom they said should have won the title.
This is because, aside from ranking highest in the online poll for fan-favorite, Suspsup also ranked second in the evening gown competition and had the best answer in the final question round without any pause and any interpreter.
However, the judges believe that Miss Angola has stood out because of her beauty from within. The results of the online voting is not included in the criteria for the final judging. Even Supsup appeals to her fans to support Leila Lopes because she believes that Miss Angola is deserving to win the crown.
